So fellas, I’m here to tell you: don’t ever take drinks from strangers.
I know the difference between someone being too tipsy and overly friendly vs whatever was up with this woman, but every instinct in my body said “this is not a safe situation”. I immediately alerted my manager that something was up and then snuck out the back door. Not like “here, have a drink with me” but more like “drink this, no please, drink this” and I said that I had to get back to work but that I’d come by and have some drinks when I got off in a little bit. My cue to get the fuck out as soon as possible was that she kept trying to put a drink in my hand. Obviously I deal with drunk people on a daily basis, but something about her behavior made me keep my guard up.īut that’s not the cautionary tale. She’d either grab me by the arm, put her arm around me, or that she needs my “help” with something. But after a few minutes I try to go back to my job and she physically won’t let me. Being on the clock, I politely decline but she says she just wants to talk and I’m like okay it’s slow right now so I’ll talk for a few minutes. At first she’s pretty friendly, but she becomes really flirty and insists that I join her for a drink at the bar.
Tonight, a fairly attractive woman in her late 30s/early 40s comes in and she immediately clocks me and comes over to talk. I’m a 26 year old man who works at a bar on the North Side.
